About Travels with my Belly

The Life you have Led doesn’t have to be the only life you have.”

– Anna Quindlen.

WHO is Travels with my Belly?

Hello, my name is Martin. I’m currently based at the edge of London in a place named after a wood.

It’s not a famous place. Although, it does have a rather lovely ruined Abbey and beautiful woodland. It’s an ordinary bit of London. The Queen hasn’t heard of it.

A small dog named Woofer and a bigger girlfriend named Chellie live with me. One of them is a good kisser! Which one? You should know that I like my kisses sloppy and slobbery.

WHY is Travels with my Belly?

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

– Steve Jobs

Some years ago I almost died – figuratively and metaphorically. Life was not good for a while. I was lost in the darkness of depression. I lost my way. I lost my job.

I found the light. I managed to dig my way out of the blackness and come once again blinking into the light. I took the redundancy money from my job loss and I chose wonderful. I booked a flight to Southeast Asia and travelled for 3 amazing months. I’ve changed my outlook. I started meditating. I have a plan. I’ll keep travelling. Now things are brighter. I love life again.

This blog is born from the ashes of the darkness. I changed my stars. I believe we all need a reason to get out of bed in the morning. My reason is a love of travel, food, and writing this blog. I hope you find your reason too. I hope that I can share the beauty and the light, good food and amazing places.

This is why the blog exists.

WHAT is Travels with my Belly?

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure.

– Helen Keller

As you may have guessed by the tag line, this is a food focused travel blog. I’ll be documenting my adventures in food and travel along with the occasional detour into other subjects.

I’ll be blogging travelogues, recipes, guides, how-tos, and more. I’ve lived in London all my life and will be writing about the amazing places and tasty foods you can find in it. I might be a little biased but I think London is one of the greatest cities in the world.

I have a particular passion for the countries and food of Asia. My special love though is Thai food. That said, I have an equal opportunities face and everything delicious is welcome into it.

Please follow on Instagram and Twitter or have a wander around the rest of my site. If you enjoyed the travel quotes, you can find many more here.

Should you like to know even more about me and this blog then head over to the Travels with my Belly Questions and Answers page. The Q&A page will be updated on a semi-regular basis.

Thank you for reading & Happy Travels.
